Before Video, let’s look at prayer approaches and the Lord’s prayer as an example.

Sometimes we view or picture God 2000 miles away sitting on his throne and begin to pray to a distant father. Try picturing Jesus holding your hand while you pray. Close proximity.

Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, Who art in Heaven Father- God is Holy- Makes it personal
Hollowed be thy name Hallowed be thy name-Honor and praise

Setting to tone with Honor and praise. Example-ABCs

Here’s what Jesus said.

1. Go to room and shut the door, get alone.

Matthew 6: 5-6 NIV "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

You also need to pray together, but tonight we are focused on praying individually.

2. Find someone to agree with you in prayer.

Matthew 18:19 (Amplified Bible) "Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree (harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever [anything and[everything] they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven."

We live in a very transient world. People change careers, addresses and even relationships often.
But we can’t afford to let instability characterize your relationship to Christ if we want prayers answered.
We need a consistent communication with Christ through prayer.

Matthew 6 Lord’s Prayer NIV
7And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
9"This, then, is how you should pray:
" 'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us today our daily bread.
12Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.[a]'
14For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Lord’s Prayer
Pattern
Our Father- God is Holy- Makes it personal/realtionship
Hallowed be thy name- Honor and praise
Thy kingdom come- God’s reign- Coming again
May your will be done- Resigning ourselves
On Earth as it is in heaven-
Give us this day- God sustainer and provider- All we need
Forgive us- Forgiveness- Repentance-
Forgiveness is the cornerstone of relationship
Lead us not in temptation- Strength to overcome
But deliver us- Stating who’s in control

Truths

1. A Christian is only as strong as his prayer life.
2. The most dangerous time in our life is when every need is met, and we have need of nothing Rev. 3:16-17
3. Realize you have direct access to God personally. 1 Tim 2:5 or Eph. 2:18

Types of Prayer

1. Supplication- Specific requests. Phil 4:6
2. Intercessions- Prayer for others. Rom. 1:9
3. Thanks- Psalm 100:4
4. Praise- Adoration of who God is.

Mark 11:23-24
Mark 11:24 (NIV) "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

If Jesus states so clearly the amount of power we have, only if we have Faith, why is it that we seem to not possess confidence and faith?

1 John 5:14
1 John 5:14 (CEV) We are certain that God will hear our prayers when we ask for what pleases him. 15And if we know that God listens when we pray, we are sure that our prayers have already been answered.

Yes or No, if we know God has our best interest in mind, we can accept answer to prayers.

John 14:13-15
John 14:13-14 (NLT) "You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, because the work of the Son brings glory to the Father.

Believe in our hearts that it has already happened, with anointing and faith God gives you. Speak it forth.

My testimony.

James 4:3
James 4:3 (GNT) And when you ask, you do not receive it, because your motives are bad; you ask for things to use for your own pleasures.

Attitude.

John 15:7
John 15:7 (NLT) "But if you stay joined to me and my words remain in you, you may ask any request you like, and it will be granted!"

Matthew 7:7
Matthew 7:7 (Amplified Bible) "Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you."

Matthew 10:1
And when he called his 12 disciples to him, he gave them the power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.

Luke 10:19
Behold I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Why are we afraid to pray for a miracle, tentative to have the authority God has given us? Is one thing harder for God?
